Readings & Updates

March 2, 2012: I’ll be on a panel at AWP with Lucy Jane Bledsoe and other writers I haven’t met yet.  The topic of the panel: “The Place at the Heart of the Story.”  I may be doing some other events at AWP, too.  I’ll post here soon as I know.

June 18h, 2012, Tattered Cover, LoDo: 7:30 p.m..  Please join BK and friends at the Tattered Cover, LoDo (lower downtown Denver) for the premier reading of THEFT with an afterparty that will include complimentary food and drinks. It promises to be a great time for all.

July 17th, 2012, 7:30 p.m. Prairie Lights Bookstore in Iowa City, Iowa.  Reading followed by drinks and gathering.

July 8 – 20, 2012: I’ll be teaching two classes at the Iowa Summer Writing Festival: “Word Yoga” and “Putting the ‘Creative’ Into Nonfiction: A Creative Nonfiction Intensive.”  Registration for these classes opens on the Iowa Summer Writing Festival website in February, 2012.  I like teaching at the Iowa Festival because it is one of the few writing conferences/festivals that focuses on the process of writing, not the selling of the end product.  We live in a culture that worships things like: Jesus was born, and then 33 years later, he died.  We forget that everything in between makes the beginning and end possible.  The end is always a crucifixion (with the emphasis on fixion / fiction).

August 2, Book Haven, Salida, CO: Reading, food, general merriment.  Join us for an all out good time and a reading of THEFT.

August 4, Moby Dickens, Taos, New Mexico, 2-4 p.m., Reading of THEFT and a gathering after.  Join us for both!
